More Houses on Tap for Community Near Exxon Mobil Campus
A master-planned community in North Houston two miles from the new Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE: XOM) campus is adding five new model homes.
Harmony, a Johnson Development Corp. community, is opening model homes from Perry Homes, Westin Homes, Darling Homes and two models from Highland Homes. The community is located near the intersection of Rayford Road and Riley Fuzzel Road, two miles east of the Hardy Toll Road.
Homes in the community range in price from the $200,000 to $500,000s.
The area has been booming with construction, trying to keep up with the demand for houses as The Woodlands inventory is nearing close out.
Harmony is one of several residential developments being built out in North Houston near Exxon Mobil’s campus. The oil giant is relocating at least 10,000 employees to its corporate campus, which is under construction in north Houston.
On April 11, Austin-based Oden Hughes broke ground on a 384-unit apartment complex just four miles from the campus.
Houston’s job growth has propelled the surge in sales growth for homes over $500,000, with the oil and gas sector behind much of the growth.
“Near the end of 2013, we had two busy, consecutive weeks when only two buyers had a Houston-area address,” Jeff Dye, vice president of Houston-based Newmark Homes, said in a statement. “Employees with Exxon Mobil are starting to purchase homes in Houston, as are employees with related oil and gas firms and companies that service those types of businesses.”
