Westin to sell in the new Candela community opening in spring 2021

Candela, a 460-acre community in Richmond, is on track open to initial residents in spring 2021, according to the developer.

The master-planned community, developed by Johnson Development, off FM 359 south of the Westpark Tollway, is planned for 1,500 homes.

Westin Homes will build homes on 40-, 50- and 60-foot lots in Candela’s first phase, according to Johnson. Prices are expected to range from the high $200,000s to the $500,000s.

“Westin — coupled with an excellent location near the Westpark Tollway and a generous amenity package — should be very appealing to buyers,” Michael Cox, Johnson Development’s president, said in an announcement.

The Axis Amenity Center will have meeting space, a courtyard with fire pit, a fitness center, resort pool, a yoga lawn and a splash pad. Other amenities will include a playground, pavilion and dog park.

“Our aim is to have amenities in place in time for our first residents to enjoy them right after they move in or soon after,” Cox said.

Johnson Development Services, an affiliate of Houston-based Johnson Development Corp., focuses on smaller master-planned communities in the Johnson portfolio. Its projects include Alder Trails, Amira, Grand Vista, Lost Creek and Willow Creek Farms in the Houston area.

Candela is located in the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District. The community is a few miles south of Cross Creek Ranch, a 3,200-acre community of Johnson Development Corp. in Fulshear.
